What stands out to you from that list?
Where do you most need inspiration or encouragement – to forgive or seek forgiveness, or perhaps to take imperfect action towards reaching your stated goals?
This is what we are revisiting this week: the power of choice and how to be more intentional about it.
Perhaps the two most courageous words we can say are:
I’m sorry.
As you consider this past week, month, pandemic season, is there someone that you need to choose to apologise to? The 1970’s film Love Story had this as a tag line:
Love means never having to say you’re sorry.
Read more about why I think this is not only wrong, but very damaging, plus how and why to say sorry here.
It might be however that seeking forgiveness is not where you are at this week.
It might be that your choice is to offer forgiveness.
This takes just as much courage. There is a famous expression (possibly attributed to Nelson Mandela):
Bitterness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”
After these past difficult months, that level of weight on our shoulders and churning in our gut is the last thing we need.
So if choosing to forgive is the choice that you need to make this week, I hope that this post brings inspiration and the encouragement you need.
And finally, what action are you putting off taking?
The lockdowns caused by the pandemic – for some – were an opportunity to finally take up that hobby, or have that clear out.
But for many, life just got busier and more stressful.
What might you be putting off that you want to take action on? And why – fear is a big reason, so is inertia.
What does it mean to take imperfect action? And what is analysis paralysis?
Let this post bring you the inspiration and motivation you need to make this first step towards what you want to do next – whatever next looks like for you!
